Presented in this lot is an Original Signed Brad Schmidt "Branding Time", Watercolour. The Southwest scene depicts a mounted cowboy in a corral of cattle separated from a lone calf. In the background are high-desert mountains reminiscent of the Colorado Plateau that dominate the Four Corners region. Brad Schmidt (1956-) is an American photorealist and contemporary painter highly regarded for his detailed, emotionally expressive depictions of Indigenous people, particularly the Navajo, Zuni, and Hopi tribes. His technique closely approaches photorealism but is softened with delicate, fine brushwork. A Navajo group notably requested his paintings to represent their community at a worldwide convention, and his works, such as "To Catch a Painted Pony" and "Little Ones", frequently appear in premier Western art settings like the Scottsdale Art Auction. This impressive watercolour is in very nice condition, the beautiful gold gilt rustic wood frame accentuates the overall scene. Visible art measures 15.5"W x 19.5"L, frame is 24"W x 27.75"L x 2"D. Combined weight 7lb, 10oz.
