This piece is a true work of craftsman ship, hand carved from a block of western pine, signed by Raymond Hornick and dated 1983. This decoy was hand carved in Oak Hall, Virginia by the brothers. The laughing gull is native to North America where it breeds on the Atlantic coast. The species is typically 14-16" long with a 39-43" wingspan.
