For your consideration is a Signed Original Laurel Carnahan "The Sleddogs Laughed...", Limited Edition 120/350, an original Collagraph Print. Laurel Carnahan is a Native American Alaskan artist working in the medium of handmade silk fiber paper collage. Collagraphs are relief prints (similar to woodcuts or linoleum blocks) from plates made up of cardboard, glue, and found objects. Silk paper (also called silk fusion) is made by dying and fusing raw silk fiber to form sheets of fabric-like paper. The iridescent papers are cut and layered to form images, then drawn back into them, adding various other materials, such as wood and shell inlay, bead work, and gold leaf, to form intricate mixed media collages. Carnahan hand-printed and hand-coloured this piece. This print is absolutely beautiful with stunning colours. The special hand made silk fiber paper and original watercolour matting displays three sled dogs, two standing and one laying down. The snout and tongue of a fourth dog is visible on the middle of the left border. Stars are visible in the overhead sky as is a first quarter moon, "man in the moon". The winter solstice sun is at the bottom between the dogs. The collagraph is truly amazing and delightful to look at. The collagraph is in very nice condition, professionally mounted in a purple coloured metal frame. Visible art measures 19" x 21", frame is 20.5" x 22.25" x 1"D, weight is 5lb, 6oz.
