Presented in this lot is an Original Signed Taylor Oughton, "Evening Mallards", Oil on Board, 1990. Taylor Oughton (1925-2018) was an award winning painter and illustrator. He became an illustrator by trade but built his reputation on commissions. Oughton's subject matter varied, but nature and wildlife were his primary interests. For more than forty years, he illustrated magazines and books. His work has been featured in publications including Reader's Digest, Field and Stream, Holiday, Sports Afield, Outdoor Life, Cosmopolitan, and the Saturday Evening Post. Oughton has also designed at the Franklin Mint and for the Lenox Collectibles. His illustrations of nature can be found in the Boy Scout handbook. He won prestigious awards from the Philadelphia and New Jersey Art Directors Clubs, the Delaware Valley Artists Guild, and the New York Society of Illustrators. This stunning painting shows amazing intricate details of both a drake and a hen in flight preparing to land on an autumnal forest pond. Artist's signature on bottom right corner as well as on reverse. This beautiful painting is in very nice condition, the matted gold gilt trimmed wood frame is in nice condition, slight edge scuffing observed.
