This is an excellent Sioux Native American Indian breastplate (breast plate) dating to the 1800’s. The piece shows two strips of harness saddle leather with Indian tanned hide ties and fringe along with trade thread sewn beads. The beads are all 1800’s period correct examples showing various types include Czechoslovakian bugle cut beads and faceted wound glass beads. The set shows remnants of old trade clothe accents and the set is truly a fantastic example which would have been worn around the neck of a warrior. Provenance: From a historic Eastern Montana American Indian Collection, where the piece was found to be an authentic original, one of the finest collections of American Indian weaponry and antiquities in Montana.
