The lot features a beaded hide split horn Buffalo headdress attributed to the Sioux Native American Indians. The headdress shows a Indian brain tanned hide, possibly Buffalo, with beaded brow band and Great American Bison Buffalo split horns. The bonnet headdress shows both glass trade seed beads and porcupine quillwork with old metal concho tacks, various feathers and a mineral pigment painted finish. The headdress comes with a tag that reads, “1920-1930 Sioux Medicine Man Horn Headdress 14” wide split horns. 38” long with feathered drops. Beaded headband – brain tanned buffalo leather painted & dyed yellow tin drops – brass tacks was featured in Aprils Issue Old Barn $1600.00 AKK”. The back-hide trailer shows a pigment painted horned figure in red, blue, green and yellow. The piece is in good condition. Please review pictures for age and originality.
