The lot features a nice, beaded hide parfleche lined sheath and Gambling card suit pewter inlaid trade knife from the Sioux of the 19th-century Northern Plains. The sheath is comprised of Indian tanned hide covering parfleche rawhide with an old tie strap attached at the top. The sheath shows classic Sioux geometric beadwork shin glass trade seed beads showing colors of chalk white, greasy green, cobalt, greasy yellow, and red. The knife is a typical trade skinning belt knife with two piece hardwood grip with pewter inlays with Gambling card suit inlays showing a diamond and club. The set displays nicely, likely a 19th-century Cowboy Gambler’s belt knife traded to Native Americans and the sheath being a late-1800’s to early 1900’s example. Sheath measures 11.5-inches long by 3-inches wide. Knife is 13.25-inches long.
