The lot features a hide beaded tobacco pouch / bag from the Sioux Native American Indians dating to the 19th Century. The bag was collected from the Pine Ridge Indian Reservation in South Dakota from the Sioux. The piece is comprised of an Indian tanned Buffalo Bison hide and is calico trade clothe lined and adorned at the front with all period correct early glass trade seed beads in a geometric pattern. The beadwork shows a sky padre blue background along with greasy yellow, medium green, cobalt, chalk white and red. The top of the bag shows an Indian tanned hide strap and the base shows long hand cut Indian tanned hide fringe. The back of the bag shows a bare hide with yellow ocher coloring.
