The lot features a fantastic, fully beaded vest from the Sioux Native American Indians, dating to the early to mid-1900s. The vest shows a hide and trade cloth constructed, full size adult vest, which is completely covered on the outside in glass trade seed beads in a traditional geometric pattern. The reverse shows a light blue background with a red border and geometric symbols in red, corn yellow, cobalt, and medium green with a purple/blue border at the bottom. The obverse shows a chalk white background with a red border, having matched geometric symbols or pattern in colors of dark red, corn yellow, cobalt and green. The piece is in very good condition, with little to no bead loss. Provenance: From the largest American Indian Antiquities collection in Montana, where it was found to be an authentic example. When lying flat, the vest measures 19.5” W by 19.75”L, as shown in the photographs. When the front is open, it is approximately 38 inches wide. Any judgment of size is an approximation.
