The lot features a fully beaded skull cracker bi-point stone head war club from the Sioux Native American Indians dating to the 19th Century. The piece starts with a long bi-point carved stone head with grey and speckled coloring being secured with a hole at the bottom with haft handle end running into it and wrapped in Indian tanned hide. The top has Indian tanned hide with sinew sewing holding a linear beadwork pattern in colors of red white heart, greasy yellow and cobalt with crack tear at the top that is still together but could separate in shipping. The hide is wrapped in trade thread and flowis into the muslin and red trade clothe wrapped wood haft handle that is further covered in period correct glass trade seed cen bead with a crazy pattern in colors of greasy yellow, Cheyenne pink, cobalt, red white heart, butterscotch, chalk white, greasy blue, iridescent, and more. The end has a tied on drop that likely separated due to age and use and was preserved by tying the piece. The piece shows some bead loss and tears with nice appearance. Provenance: From a large Iowa private collection of weapons and Native American beadwork. Measures overall 20.5”L with a head that is 8”L by 2.25” by 2 1/8”.
