Made available for public purchase is this fine authentic set of fully beaded war shirt panels from the Sioux Native American Indian people and dating to the 19th Century. The beadwork panels are thought to have been from a Warrior's war shirt or a possibles tent bag. The set includes two larger and two smaller beaded panels with each having a matched traditional geometric pattern done in all early period correct petit and standard glass trade seed beads in chalk white, greasy yellow, red white heart, sky padre blue, and semi-transparent dark blue. The set shows a heavy dense wool trade clothe construction with red stroud trade clothe accents constructed from sinew and trade thread sewing. All four panels have the same seven-line design with the center line showing a smaller box of greasy yellow, a wonderfully artful pattern. Each panel is in overall good condition for its age with some bead loss. Provenance: From the renowned Sundog Fine Art Bozeman, Montana collection and collected by Bruce VanLandingham. Bruce VanLandingham was a pillar in the American Indian collecting community and a respected expert. Along with being an avid collector Bruce also was the sole owner of Sundog Fine Art Gallery in Bozeman which was both part museum and gallery. The largest panels (2x) each measure 9 ¼ inches by 3 1/8 inches. The smaller panels (2x) each measure 5 ½ inches by 2 ½ inches.
