This is a very rare and authentic fully beaded doll from renowned Sioux Native American Indian, Mary Standstall dating the 20th Century. This example shows all Indian tanned hide with sinew sewing, real human hair and all glass trade seed beads showing a traditional geometric pattern. The beadwork shows Cheyenne pink background with chalk white, greasy blue, red, greasy green, and greasy yellow patterns. The doll shows fully beaded high-top moccasins leg cuffs, beaded dress, beaded cape shoulder covering, beaded belt, beaded belt knife sheath along with real human hair, mineral accented face with bead features and bone choker. The beadwork is shown on both sides of the doll and the piece shows a nice large full size. Two other examples of Mary Standstall beaded dolls can been seen from the Dr. Kent Vickery (1942-2011) collection sold in Cowan’s 2013 Auction along with various examples in our past few sales. Provenance: From a collection in Big Sky, Montana from a Yellowstone Club estate. This is one of the finest Mary Standstall example offered for public sale. This doll measures 17”H by 11”W.
