The lot features a solid brass pipe tomahawk with beaded drop attributed to the Sioux Native American Indians. The tomahawk head shows a solid brass copper cast and worked head with engraved / indented leaf pattern on both sides of the blade. The top of the elongated slender bowl shows a hand hammered finish and thinner pipe bowl wall, a sign of forging and quality. The blade itself shows a faceted edge, an artful addition to the piece and the entire war club head has an even deep patina that appears to be from age. The war club head is matted to a later addition solid wood haft handle that has been adorned with straps of solid brass straps, dark blue navy stroud trade clothe, Great American Bison Buffalo hide fur, sinew sewn Buffalo rawhide parfleche and red and chalk white glass trade seed beads. At the end of the haft handle shows a typical triangular drop of beadwork which has been crafted from Indian tanned hide, navy trade clothe and tent canvas. The front of the beadwork shows a chalk white background with four Buffalo Track symbols in red. The piece overall displays very well. Measures overall 21.5"L with the head being 8.75"L x 3"W blade with the eyelet hole being 1 3/8"W. The drop is 12"L x 4"W.
