The lot features an Indian tanned Buffalo hide long pipe bag with geometric beadwork from the Sioux Indians from the Pine Ridge Indian Reservation in South Dakota from the ex-collection of Tom Hardy. The bag has a long design and is comprised of Indian tanned Buffalo Bison hide with hand cut Buffalo Bison hide fringes and has a red ocher / ochre dyed finish. The front, outside edge, and entire opening border have geometric and linear beadwork in glass trade seed beads with a chalk white background and stepped- diamond and hour glass pattern in yellow, green and black. Provenance: Form the ex-collection of Tom Hardy Indianapolis, Indiana. The previous owner stated it being from the circa 1890-1900 early reservation era, given the beadwork pattern, hide and pattern the bag is likely later in the 20th Century but exact dates are unknown. Measures overall 28 inches long by 5 inches wide.
