The lot features a fantastic Indian tanned hide, beaded child’s doll from the Sioux Native American Indians. The doll shows Indian tanned hide with a nice yellow ocher finish and fine hide fringe framing the entire piece, which is further adorned with all 1800’s glass trade seed beads in colors of greasy blue, greasy yellow, lavender, chalk white, green, and red white heart. The doll is dressed with a beaded fringe collar cape, a beaded fringed dress, fully beaded moccasins, and fully beaded leg cuffs. The doll also shows beaded facial features, beaded earrings, and what appears to be real human hair. The piece is both sinew and trade thread sewn. Overall, the piece has the pattern and look of a 19th Century example, with later age and possible repairs. Provenance: From the largest American Indian Antiquities collection in Montana.
