The lot features a fine whimsical floral beaded war shirt from the Sioux Native American Indians of the late-19th Century. The shirt shows a Buffalo Bison Indian tanned hide construction with heavy fully beaded panels which extend around the neck and back over the shoulders and down the chest in traditional war shirt style. The front shows three-button opening with mother of pearl old trade buttons and zig-zag cut center chest panel. The piece is sinew and trade thread sewn. The beaded panel has a muslin trade clothe and red trade cloth backing and border and the beadwork is all period correct 1800’s glass trade seed beads in a phenomenal whimsical floral beaded pattern in colors of chalk white, sky padre blue, red, red white hearts, cobalt, greasy greens, greasy rose. The arms shows fully beaded cuffs with the same zig-zag border an the entire war shirt has a fine border of hand cut long frilly Indian tanned hide fringe down both sides, at the bottom edge of the arms, across the shoulders of the back and over the shoulders on the front. The piece is in very good condition and is well preserved. The piece has a later added Victoria Dei Gratia Regina. Canada 5 Cents 1900 silver coin pendant. Provenance: From a historic Eastern Montana American Indian Collection where the piece was found to be an authentic original, one of the finest collections of American Indian weaponry and antiquities in Montana. Measures overall 31”L with arms that measure 65”W when outstretched. Very good condition with little to no bead loss, supple soft hide.
