This is an antique Slaight U.S. Internal Revenue seal padlock with key and seals. The padlock was used by the agency to secure warehouses, storage facilities and shipments. The locks were also used extensively during Prohibition to secure shipments of illegal liquor. The padlock is made from solid brass. It is marked "T. Slaight Patent [date] Newark, NJ / Patent Aug. 5 '73 / U.S. Int. Rev.". It is also marked with a serial number on the shackle and key "18565". The key is also marked "S.R. Slaymaker, Lancaster, PA." The antique padlock is in very good condition and measures 2.5" x 3.75".
