Included in this lot for your consideration is a Smilin' Sam From Alabam', coin-op peanut dispenser. The machine was originally made by General Merchandiser INC. out of Chicago, Illinois in 1931. This example was cast by Prince Manufacturing Company out of Tonawanda, New York in the 1980's, and is believed to have used the original casting from General MFG. Co.. The machine is a very-good replica, and reads "Smilin' Sam From Alabam'" across the front, with "The Salted Peanut Man" just underneath. The machine additionally reads "Filled Daily - Always Fresh" on the left, "Dust-Proof, Clean - And Sanitary" on the right, "Coin Refused - When MTY - Slugs Rejected" on the left side of the head, and "Directions - Drop Coin - Hold Cupped Hand - Under Tongue & Pull - One Cent" on the top of the head, "For Service Phone - 97065 - PRINCE MFG. CO. - TONAWANDA, NY." on the back. Lastly, the machine shows the "General Merchandiser INC. - CHICAGO" casting on the bottom. Overall, the machine functions well, and includes the key. The machine measures 13 1/4" tall, 10 1/2" wide, and 10 7/8" deep.
