This is a fantastic early Number 1 (No. 1) Second Issue (2nd Issue) antique tip-up single action spur trigger revolver chambered in .22 rimfire caliber, produced by Smith & Wesson circa 1868-1875. The revolver is in a rare presentation factory grade showing a 2-tone finish with blue finish octagon 3.25" barrel and sterling silver plated brass frame with exotic rare rosewood grips having a silver screw set. This was considered the highest grade or finish of this particular model and is rarely seen. To reload the weapon, the barrel was tipped up, the cylinder was pulled forward and out of the frame and then the empty shell casings could be poked out by use of the ejector rod under the barrel. It was a simple and sturdy design that worked well. Top of the barrel is marked, "SMITH & WESSON SPRINGFIELD MASS." with the pistol grip end being marked with the serial number of, "109793". The barrel is marked, "PATENTED APRIL 3, 18 JULY 5, 1859 & DEC 18, 1860". The revolver shows a fine original condition with some finish remaining on the barrle and most of the silver still retained on the frame. The grips show very nice condition with only small nicks. This is truly a fine antique presentation grade pistol. ANTIQUE Firearm requires NO FFL. Other presentation grade early Smith & Wesson's such as this have been valued at as high as $2,600 in similar condition.
