This is a fantastic early Number 1 (No. 1) Second Issue (2nd Issue) antique tip-up single action spur trigger revolver chambered in .22 rimfire caliber, produced by Smith & Wesson circa 1860-68. The revolver is in a rare presentation factory grade showing a 2-tone finish with blue finish octagon 3 3/16" barrel and sterling silver plated brass frame with exotic rare rosewood grips. This was considered the highest grade or finish of this particular model and is rarely seen. To reload the weapon, the barrel was tipped up, the cylinder was pulled forward and out of the frame and then the empty shell casings could be poked out by use of the ejector rod under the barrel. It was a simple and sturdy design that worked well. Top of the barrel is marked, "SMITH & WESSON SPRINGFIELD MASS." with the pistol grip end being marked with the serial number of, "75046". The revolver shows a good original condition with some finish remaining on the barrel and some remnants of silver on the frame. The grips show nice condition with only small nicks. The cylinder spins freely, but clicks in time when the hammer is pulled. This is truly a fine antique presentation grade pistol. Other presentation grade early Smith & Wesson's such as this have been valued at as high as $2,600 in similar condition. The revolver qualifies as an antique hand gun, and does not require FFL Transfer or NICS Background Check. Serial Number: 75046.
