This is a tremendous Smith and Wesson Number 3 Target revolver chambered in .44 S&W cartridge with original tusk grips and gold inlay with beautiful condition. This revolver is chambered in the standard .44 Smith & Wesson and fitting the original .44 Russian. This model was introduced in 1887 and in production until 1910 with over 4,000 pistols produced. While these revolvers were offered from 1900 – 1907, all frames were made pre-1899 and are therefore antique and can be purchased without an FFL or C&R license. This pistol features a longer barrel and sights indicating it as a rarer target model. The revolver displays a 7 1/2" long ribbed barrel, six shot cylinder, ivory grips, target sights, and tip up design. The revolver is marked with engraved gold filled initials "CS" on the left side of the frame. The top of the barrel is marked reading "SMITH & WESSON SPRINGFIELD MASS. U.S.A." with the left side of the barrel reading "44 S.&W. CTG". Mechanically the revolver is tight and locks properly with smooth action and crisp trigger. The revolver shows wonderful blue'd finish with some wear and warm patina. The grips are ivory showing good condition with only minor wear due to handling. It shows matching serial numbers on the butt of the grip, cylinder, and near the release latch. The pistol weighs 2lbs 8oz. Serial Number: 35527. This firearm qualifies as an Antique, and does not require FFL Transfer or NICS Background Check.
