For your bidding pleasure in this lot is a solid gold ladies’ hat pin. The height of the hatpin era was from about 1890 to 1925. WWI marked the end of the big hat pin era as smaller hats and military button pins came into fashion. This pin is 2 1/2" long and has a head that is 1/2" across. The head is an open circle with scroll work carved on it; in the open center part are three scrolls holding the setting of a red stone. The pin is on a paper holder that says, "Gifts That Last", and is unprinted "Solid Gold". This has an art deco style to it, along with the box. The box is 3 1/2" long and 1 1/4" wide. It is green with a diamond pattern and gold embossing on the top. The box has a metal hinge and a green velvet bed and white satin inside the lid. The gold has not been tested.
