Featured in this lot is this South African Bushman-made personal effects bag, circa 1950's. There are nine total personal effects in this collection. The first is a beaded personal effects bag constructed from tanned hide and painted with a reddish brown ochre paint; the bag includes African trade seed beads of dark blue, light blue, and green and shows decoration of bone tubular heishi beads. The second item is a pair of fire starting sticks with a placement fashioned into the base. The last piece is a child's miniature toy bow with four arrows; there are porcupine quills attached to the front of the arrows, which are encased in a hide, trade bead decorated quiver. The condition of these utensils and the personal effects bag is good, with no obvious signs of damage. The measurements of the personal effects bag are 17" x 8 1/2"; the fire starter sticks measure 15 1/2" x 3/8" x 3/8" and 9 1/4" x 1/2" x 3/8"; the child's miniature toy bow is 7 3/4" x 1 1/8" x 5/8".
