Featured in this lot is this South African hand carved Djembe drum, circa 1940's. The drum includes a tanned and stretched calf skin drum head with beveled Djembe corners and a twine wrapped securing net; the base shows a lovely hand carved floral decoration to the long neck sides of the Djembe. A djembe, or jembe, is a rope-tuned skin-covered goblet drum played with bare hands. The condition of this drum is good and playable, with a slight wear mark to the stretched calf hide drum head and slight wear to the wooden marks on the outside of the drum. The measurements of this Djembe drum are 31 3/4" x 13" x 13".
