Featured in this lot we have a Southern Plains Indian hand woven gathering basket originating from the 18th century. This basket displays a hand woven splint construction using natural fibers. The basket features light and dark brown coloration with four strips of dark brown running across the basket. The piece shows a "U" or horseshoe shape with a sloped design. The basket shows good condition overall with expected wear due to age. The piece measures 12 3/4" wide by 13 1/4" long and 5 1/2" at the deepest.
