The lot features an 1800's beaded hide rawhide awl case from the Southern Plains ex-Christie's Auction 2006 and private ex-Museum and Fine Native American collection from Eastern Montana. The piece exhibits Indian tanned hide lid with parfleche rawhide body covered in 19th-century glass trade seed beads sowing colors of chalk white and cobalt blue. The bottom shows three Indian tanned hide fringes with solid brass trade beads and the top shows Indian tanned hide belt tie. The piece is completely sinew sewn and has a nice patina. Has a fancy beaded edge on the top flap. Under the flap is an original museum number marked, "981/CFT 285 OC/50126". Provenance: Purchased from Christie's Auction in 2006 and from a private ex-Museum collection and Fine Native American collection in Eastern Montana. Measures overall 15-inches long with fringes and top strap, body itself without fringes and strap is 6.5-inches long by 1.5-inches wide.
