For your consideration is a Spencer Model 1865 .50 RF repeating saddle ring carbine. This carbine features a fixed blade front sight and 20” round barrel chambered in 50 RF. The top of the barrel is marked "MODEL/1865" at the breech, "SPENCER REPEATING RIFLE PAT’D MARCH 6 1860 MANUF’D AT PROV. R.I. BY BURNSIDE RIFLE CO." is marked on top of the receiver and the serial number is marked on top of the receiver next to the hammer. Most of the parts are marked with single letter inspection marks. Saddle ring and bar mounted on the left wrist and mounted with a smooth forearm and straight grip stock with a sling swivel. Although most Model 1865 Spencer carbines were delivered too late for use in the Civil War, they were used extensively by cavalry regiments on the frontier until replaced by the U.S. Model 1873 Springfield Carbine. Serial Number: 2897. This firearm qualifies as an Antique, and does not require FFL Transfer or NICS Background Check.
