For your consideration is this sperm whale resin scrimshaw tooth of the famous H.M.S. Victory with a portrait of Horatio Nelson on the opposite side. Vice-Admiral Nelson hoisted his flag in Victory on 18 May, 1803, with Samuel Sutton as his flag captain. HMS Victory is a 104-gun first-rate ship of the line of the Royal Navy, ordered in 1758, laid down in 1759, and launched in 1765. She is best known for her role as Lord Nelson's flagship at the Battle of Trafalgar on 21 October, 1805. The tooth shows the majesty of the Victory and a good likeness for the time period of Lord Nelson. The condition of this resin tooth is good, with some browning from age. The measurements of this tooth are 6" x 3 1/4" x 1 3/4".
