Featured in this lot is this split willow weave and leather accented fishing creel from the early 20th century. An angler's creel is designed to function as an evaporative cooler when lined with moss and dipped into the creek to keep the catch chilled. This creel shows a tight, split willow weave with leather components and accents throughout. The hole for the fish is set in the center of the lid and the leather buckle slides into a slot just under the fish hole. No makers mark or signature is present. The creel shows good condition overall with wear present from its age and use over the years, but no major signs of damage is noted. It measures 8" L x 16 3/8" W x 10 1/2" H and weighs 2 pounds and 6 ounces.
