For your consideration is this original, Star Brand Shoes canvas advertisement from the 1900-1910s. The Star Brand, as a shoe name, originated in 1899 when the Roberts, Johnson and Rand Shoe Company incorporated the Star Shoe Company. This was after Beverly Hixson persuaded the company to invest in his "Star Brand" women's shoe design. The company was initially formed in 1898 by Jack and Oscar Johnson, along with their cousin Frank C. Rand and John C. Roberts. The hanging canvas advertisement shows a light brown color, with golden brown colored fringe hanging from the bottom. It reads, "Serviceable Footwear" in black lettering with a red star on either side. The red star reads, "R J & R S". Below the star is the motto reading, "Star Brand Shoes Are Better" in white and red lettering. The advertisement shows good condition overall with wear present from its age and use over the years, but no major signs of damage is noted. Small holes present on the left and right side but the advertisement is still in good, readable condition. It measures 12 1/4" L x 41 1/4" W and weighs 6 ounces.
