Featured in this lot is this steer horn scrimshaw and carved powder horn marked 1757. The powder horn shows a beautifully polished example with carved section and shows an overlapping sleeve that is scrimshaw the city of Philadelphia with floral decoration and a seal of a Chimera on one side of a seal and a unicorn on the other side of the seal. The powder horn is carved with script of: W. Seuling - His horn made Atn .4 Oct 10, 1757 - Philadelphia- and the seal reads Qui : Maly : Pense : Honi : Soit in the border around the seal. The powderhorn is connected with a sling of tanned hide and hitched mane horse hair identified by how soft it is. The condition of this of this scrimshaw powder horn is wonderfully and professionally crafted steer horn construction. The measurements of this powder horn is 11 3/4" x 2 3/4" x 7". Exact age unknown.
