Presented in this lot is a Vintage Stetson XXXXX Western Cowboy Hat, with leather belt hat band, circa 1970s. Classic Cattleman Cowboy Hat, "Silverbelly" colour. Considered the standard and classic Western hat, Stetson Hats were designed and created by John B. Stetson as a lightweight all-weather hat for the demands of the American West. The term "Stetson" eventually became all-but-interchangeable with what later became known as the cowboy hat due to later style-designs based on how the rounded-crown would deform from regular use. The "Boss of the Plains" style would become the cornerstone of Stetson's hat business and is still in production today. Original store name on the sweat band (Cross Western Store Ogden, Utah), size 7 1/8. It is highly versatile, designed to look just as sharp with a suit in the city as it does with denim on a ranch, with the classic cattleman crease crown, curved brim, leather sweatband, leather belt hat band and a full satin liner. Designed for functional outdoor use and tough enough for ranch work or rodeo events. The hat is in nicely preserved condition, wear consistent with age and handling, very slight soiling observed.
