Featured in this lot is a hardcover first edition of “Stickeen” by John Muir, printed in 1909. This hardcover book was printed by Boston & New York Houghton Mifflin Company and copyrighted in 1909. The book is a short 73-page story regarding a dog named Stickeen, who was brought along one of John Muir's trips in Alaska. The book details their adventures on this Alaska trip with Stickeen as a near constant companion. John Muir, also known as "John of the Mountains" and "Father of the National Parks", was an influential Scottish-American naturalist, author, environmental philosopher, glaciologist, and early advocate for the preservation of wilderness in the United States of America.
