This is a wonderful American steer horn four-legged ottoman footstool with cowhide upholstery from a large Montana Dude Ranch estate. The piece has fantastic age and was collected in Jackson Hole, Wyoming in the 1990’s. The footstool ottoman features four polished steer horns with cowhide wrapped trimmed tops and solid wood constructed rectangular top which is finely upholstered with rare salt and pepper tri-color / white cowhide. Chairs or ottoman footstools such as this date back to the 1800’s and were widely associated with Frontiersman, Trappers, the Old West, and Wild West Shows such as Buffalo Bill and the 101 Ranch. One of the most notable notable of makers was Wenzel Friedrich (1827-1902) with this piece emulating his fine craftsmanship and style. The footstool is in very good condition with no obvious signs of damage. The measurements of this footstool are 13" x 19 1/2" x 16". This is an outstanding example of handcrafted furniture.
