Featured in this lot we have a limited edition print of Elmer Sprunger's painting titled "Swan River Elk". Elmer Sprunger (1919-2007) was a Montana born artist known for his landscape and wildlife artwork. Sprunger studied art under Elizabeth Lochrie and spent World War II as a commercial artist for the army. Eventually Sprunger moved back to Montana in the 1950's and became a full time wildlife painter in 1972. Sprunger was recognized for his vivid paintings capturing the beauty of the north west outdoors. This print depicts a bull elk as he moves to the snow covered bank of the Swan River. The bull is shown as he prepares to call to elk on the other side of the river. The scenery depicts a beautiful snowy forest with snow covered mountains rising in the distance. The print shows wonderful detail and captures the beauty of Montana. The piece is signed in the bottom left hand corner of the print reading "Sprunger" with the bottom of the piece is marked "Swan River Elk". The piece was printed by Ken Carlson in 1974 and is numbered 194/1000. The print shows good condition overall with little to no wear. It measures 26" wide by 20" tall.
