Both are stamped and handwritten on the back, “Title (hand written) 6574 Bertha Falls Waterton Lakes NAT’L Park, Canada Copyright by T.J. Hileman, Kalispell, Mont.” T.J. Hileman (1882-1945) moved to Kalispell, MT in 1911, opening his own portrait studio, after graduating from Effingham School of Photography in Chicago, Il. There he met Alice Georgeson; in 1913, they were the first couple to have been married in Glacier National Park. In 1924, Hileman became the official photographer for the Great Northern Railway. He is very well known for his scenic photographs of the park as well as for his portraits of the Blackfoot Indians of the area. This hand-tinted, framed photo of Lake McDonald has a sticker on the back from Hileman's Kalispell shop. Hileman of a waterfall in Glacier or Waterton park in similar size have sold for $375 for a single image.
