Featured in this lot is a beautiful, large Persian Tabriz, fine, hand woven wool rug. The rug features a fine detailed design, bright colors, and a tight weave. A Tabriz rug/carpet is a type of rug in the general category of Persian carpets from the city of Tabriz, the capital city of East Azarbaijan Province northwest of Iran. The city is totally populated by Azerbaijanis. It is one of the oldest rug weaving centers that makes a huge diversity of types of carpets. Tabriz has one of the most diverse displays of designs from medallion and Herati/Mahi to figural, pictorial, and even 3-d shaped rugs. The rug shows good condition overall, with some light wear due to age. The rug measures 97" wide by 135" long.
