Featured in this lot is this tanzanite, emerald, and diamond, 18k yellow and white gold ring. The ring shows 18k two tone gold construction with an antique design in a 1920's style setting. The ring has a total gold weight 4.79GM. The center stone shows an oval cut tanzanite cabochon with a weight of 7.28 carats and desirable violetish blue coloring. Tanzanite is a very rare precious gemstone that is only found in the Usumburu Mountains that border the Umba Valley of northern Tanzania. It was originally discovered in 1967 by Tiffany & Company, who named the stone Tanzanite. Tanzanite is unique due to its exceptional pleochroism (an optical phenomenon in which a stone has different colors when observed at different angles). The vintage style setting of this ring shows 10 decorated, round cut brilliant emeralds with a weight of 0.36 carats. The face of the vintage setting is profusely decorated with 22 round cut brilliant diamonds weighing 0.17 carats. The Crown Jewel, INC. hallmark is shown on the inside of the ring band, along with an 18k gold stamp on the other side. The measurements of this ring are 1" x 1" x 3/4" and the ring size is US 7.
