Featured in this lot is this tanzanite and VS2 diamond, 18k white gold ring with GIA and AIGL paperwork. The ring shows a polished, stamped, and tested 18k white gold band with a bright finish and excellent workmanship. The center stone is an oval brilliant cut crown tanzanite stone with a weight of 13.24 carats, violetish blue coloration, and very good cut grade. Tanzanite is a very rare, precious gemstone that is only found in the Usumburu Mountains that border the Umba Valley of northern Tanzania. It was originally discovered in 1967 by Tiffany & Company, who named the stone Tanzanite. This example is unique due to its exceptional pleochroism (an optical phenomenon in which a stone has different colors when observed at different angles). The center stone and the pave shoulder design is profusely decorated with a total of 38 round cut brilliant diamonds with a total weight of 0.60 carats, clarity of VS2 - SI1, and color gradient of G - H. The piece comes complete with AIGL Inc. (American International Gemological Laboratories, Inc. a GIA certified lab AIGL#: K66E11-EA13459) report and appraisal, confirming the above info and giving a total value of $20,697.00. The measurements of this ring are 1 1/4" x 7/8" x 3/4". The ring size is US 6 1/2.
