Featured in this lot is a set of Taxco Sterling Silver & Abalone Salt/Pepper Shakers, plus spreading knife, circa 1950's-70's. Taxco, located in Guerrero Mexico, is heavily associated with silver, both with the mining of it and other metals and for the crafting of it into jewelry, silverware and other items. Today, mining is no longer a mainstay of the city's economy. The city's reputation for silverwork, along with its picturesque homes and surrounding landscapes, have made tourism the main economic activity (Wikipedia). These shakers come with a small display tray. The items are marked "Sterling / Taxco." The shakers tray measures 3.75" x 2". The shakers measure 1.5" tall and 1" diameter. The knife measures 5.25" long. These pieces are in good condition.
