The book contains numerous Native American short stories and tales. The stories are accompanied by 35 illustrations done by Frederic Remington, with a combination of colored and black & white pieces. Frederic Sackrider Remington (1861-1909) was an American painter, illustrator, sculptor and writer who specialized in depictions of the American Old West. His works are known for depicting the Western United States in the last quarter of the 19th century and featuring images such as cowboys, Native Americans, and the U.S. Cavalry. Hannibal Hamlin Garland (1860-1940) was an American novelist, short story writer, poet, psychical researcher and essayist. Garland is known for his collection of western short stories. The black and brown cloth gold gilt illustrated hardcover shows nice condition overall with scuffing to the covers and spine. Intact interior pages are in nice condition, age tanning observed.
