She served as an associate manager of the U. S. Sanitary Commission in Chicago. In addition to her nursing duties, she recruited nurses for the Union cause. This work is an autobiography of her experiences during the war. The book is in good condition for its age;having some wear and tear to the boards and spine, loose but intact hinges, and fading on the spine. Measuring 6.25" x 9" x 2".
