This is an early edition illustrated gilt hard cover edition of The Boys of '61 by Charles Carleton Coffin and dating to circa 1881. The book provides a unique perspective of the Civil War from the beginning to the surrender of General Lee. The full title is, "The Boys of '61 or, Four Years of Fighting. Personal Observations with the Army and Navy, From the First Battle of Bull Run to the Fall of Richmond." The books shows various extraordinary illustrations throughout. Published by Estes and Lauriat Boston copy right 1881. Measures 6.5" x 9".
