Included in this lot is "The Butterfield Overland Mail" Vol. III written by Roscoe and Margaret Conkling and published in 1947 by The Arthur H. Clark Company. The Butterfield Overland Mail Trail was a stagecoach service from 1857-1961. The service had two eastern terminals in Memphis and St. Louis with routes to San Francisco. Before the days of the Transcontinental Railroad, the stagecoach provided a valuable service to connect the eastern and western United States. Often considered the best work on the first overland postal service from the Mississippi to the Pacific Coast. These books offer a wonderful historical read and show good overall condition. This volume measures 6 3/4" x 9 1/2".
