Featured in this lot we have a framed lithograph by Charles Shreyvogel titled "The Duel". Schreyvogel is an American western painter and artist known for his depictions of the wild west. Unfortunately due to his early death at the age of 51, his artistic carrier was cut short only becoming recognized 11 years before his death. Despite that Schreyvogel is still regarded, along with the likes of Frederic Remington and Charles Russell, one of the artists of the last frontier. The litho depicts a conflict between US cavalry soldiers and Native American braves. The warriors are all shown on horseback with the front two swinging a saber and tomahawk respectively. The other combatants are depicted with firearms and firing on each other. The piece shows a wonderful impressionistic art style and would make a great addition to any collection. The print is signed in the bottom right hand corner reading "Chris Schreyvogel Copyright". The piece is set into a custom wood frame with a brown and gilt gold border around the art. The lithograph shows good condition overall with some wear across the frame. The frame measures 24 1/2" wide by 29 1/2" tall with the art measuring 15" wide by 20" tall.
