Featured in this lot is an Original Saleman's Sample of "The Golden Way to the Highest Attainments" by Rev. J. H. Potts, 1889, International Publishing Co. The full published book focuses on Christian advice, Victorian morality, and "highest attainments". Rev. J.H. Potts is also famous for his related late-19th-century subscription titles, such as The Golden Dawn and Our Thrones and Crowns. Reverend James Henry Potts (1848–1942) was a prominent 19th-century Methodist Episcopal minister, author, and prolific editor in Michigan. He served as the long-time editor of the Michigan Christian Advocate and wrote numerous influential religious texts, best known for his spiritual work The Golden Dawn, or Light on the Great Future. This salesman's sample features a gold gilt red coloured sample cover attached to the inside front cover, "explanation notes" from the publisher throughout the book, purchasing options and buyer log pages in the rear of the book. The olive green clothbound gold gilt stamped illustrated hardcover is in good overall condition, fading, scuffing and staining noted. Intact pages exhibit age tanning.
