In this lot is a 1st Edition of "The Great Northern Railway A Pictorial Study" by Charles and Dorothy Wood. Of all America's transcontinental railroads, none was more colourful than the Great Northern. Today, fifty years after its merger into the sprawling Burlington Northern system, the "Big G" is still fondly remembered by railfans and model builders alike, and there is much to remember! The late Charles R. Wood established himself over the years as an expert on the subject of railroading in the Pacific Northwest. He was an ardent follower of railroading, as a hobbyist collector and photographer, and was active as a member and past officer of the Great Northern Railway Historical Society for some years.
Book has over 800 photographs are included, many in colour, as well as maps, timetables, brochures, etc. Artwork is provided by Mike Pearsall and noted rail artist, Howard Fogg.
The book is in good condition with attractive light green cloth-covered boards, bright gilt lettering on spine, gilt Great Northern emblem on front cover, pages in good condition, no foxing nor any other marring noted, measurements are 11.25"L x 8.75"W x 1.5"D
