Offered in this lot we have a first edition of 'In the heart of the Bitter Root Mountains The story of "The Carlin Hunting party" by Heclawa. Heclawa is a pseudonym for the author Abe Himmelwright who was one of the hunters in the party. The book was printed in 1894 by G. P. Putnam's sons and shows a rebound cover by Butte Silver Bow Public Library. The book tells the ill fated tale of the Carlin hunting party from September to December 1893. The book shows a number of illustrations throughout the piece and also features a folding map in the back of the book. Overall, the book shows good condition with only minor wear. The piece measures 7 1/2" tall by 5" wide and 1" thick.
