For your consideration is this 1866 First Edition of "The Heroes of Albany" by Rufus W. Clark, S. R. Gray, publisher. "The Heroes of Albany: A Memorial of the Patriot-Martyrs of the City and County of Albany, Who Sacrificed Their Lives During the Late War in Defence of Our Nation, 1861–1865" is a comprehensive and stirring 870-page memorial dedicated to the Union soldiers and "patriot-martyrs" from the city and county of Albany, New York, who lost their lives fighting in the American Civil War between 1861 and 1865. From soldiers and statesmen to artists and activists, each person has left an indelible mark on Albany and on the world. With a keen eye for detail and a deep sense of reverence, Clark brings these stories to life in vivid and compelling fashion. It honors individual citizens, detailed accounts of local soldiers, and statesmen from Albany who sacrificed their lives. The text contains operational summaries and brief histories of the specific military regiments organized out of Albany. It provides an extensive overview of the political, economic, and logistical efforts made within Albany County to sustain the United States federal government during the conflict. Rufus Wheelwright Clark (1813-1886) was an American pastor and author. The black cloth bound gold gilt stamped illustrated hardcover is preserved condition, gold gilt is bright, scuffing and fading observed, boards loose at hinges. Intact pages exhibit age tanning and foxing throughout. Measures 6.25"W x 9.5"L x 2"D, weight is 3lb, 4oz.
