Featured in this lot is this rare, 1825 complete set of "The Life of John Buncle, ESQ" by Thomas Amory, published by Septimus Prowett in London circa 1825. The set includes Volumes I-III and details the eccentric fiction story of John Buncle, a student in Trinity College Dublin, who embarks on a series of striking adventures and remarkable encounters in Ireland and the North of England. Science and Christian apologetics, narratives of utopian communities and prominent men of study, vigorous defenses of female intelligence and gallant courtship, instructive tales, and awe-struck descriptions of exquisite vistas compete for attention throughout the novel. The books are bound in a marbled hard cover showing colors of blue, brown, black, beige and red. The books show fair to bad condition as both the front and back cover are completely detached from each book. Some pages are loosely sitting in the books, unbound. The spines have since been damaged and fallen off. The interior pages show slight foxing but are still in good readable condition. The books measure 7 3/16" L x 4 1/2" W x 1 1/8" D and have a collective weight of 2 pounds and 8 ounces.
